Oz Line Up

Dear world.  Here is my line up for the Wizard of Oz.
My brain is fried from these last week of school.  I’m glad it’s almost over, but there’s still a lot more to be done.  But that’s not really important, I hope you enjoy this line up, I didn’t get the Cowardly Lion in there, I still want to work on him, we will see.  My favorite is Jack Pumpkinhead.

Thumbnails for Oz

Thumbnails for my character design class, we're doing a line up of the character from the Oz stories. There's still a lot more work that needs to be done. I'm still trying to work out the Cowardly Lion. Most of the bodies are ready, next will be the line up, costumes, and faces. Next to be posted will be the line up, or individual characters, trying to post on this weekly, at least trying to draw more daily. Enjoy

Everyone, meet Gina.

This is the girl mentioned in the post before, with the Maya bedroom.  Her story needs more development.  The drawing and turn around were the trade for the ice cream shop.

http://katherinestocking.blogspot.com/  And that is the girl you did these drawings for me.  The development of the character herself was done by me.

Maya Room Modeling

Now for some 3D modeling from last semester, well rooms for now.  I’m sure I’ll get around to posting other Maya projects from last semester, but I feel like they need some touching up.  So for now enjoy some room modeling I did, some realistic texturing and then I did some cell shading.

The assignment behind this was to model a room from a photograph.  It seemed easy enough, but what I didn’t think about were all the objects on the shelves, which were actually fun to do nonetheless.

These two rooms were for a different class where I had to start a process book for an animated short.  I was having a lot of fun in Maya, and figured I would model a room for my character’s bedroom.  This made it easier to form the storyboard as well.  The first room was made a too little realistic for the style of the character.  Then I learned how to do cell shading and that seem to fit better.

This one was a trade I did for a friend’s short, an ice cream shop.  In return, she did a turn around for my character for my short.

The Offspring of Pr...

Tonight, after a less productive weekend then I have hoped for, I started to question my ability to focus.  I love reading stuff on wikipedia, but it’s almost as if procrastination and ADHD had a baby.  Maybe that’s the real reason why professors don’t want you to use wikipedia.  You’re reading information you need for your research paper, then open a link in another tab, then another and then another.  Afterwards you go to those tabs and read, and the vicious cycle starts all over again.
Also, I hope to do more comic strips. I hope someone finds this one funny.

EDITED- So I can't right the letter P late at night...a lot of people thought it said Dr. But no.  I'm sure you going to figure it out.  I'm going to move on from this first attempt at a comic and hope I do better next time.

Random Sketchbook 01

I decided to scan pages from my sketchbooks.  Some might be random doodles, and some might be homework assignments.  These three are little bit of both.  The first are drawings I try to do of my friend (and somewhere in along the line, I made her a ninja pirate).  Next are from illustration class, changing an existing character.  You have Spider-Man from the Marvel Mangaverse as inspirations, Clifford the Big Red Dog as a robot, Luna from Final Fantasy X as an “emo” teen.  Last is a sketch I have made in planning to make it into a painting, this hasn’t happened just yet.

Some old work.

I am determined to post on this blog.  First I feel like I must get rid of the old to make way for the new.  So I’m going to post some old work prior to my day’s at Cal State Northdridge, some if not all of these could be found at my DeviantArt account. Following this, I shall post work from my first semester at the school, which I will be developing more one way or another. Then we should be caught up to the present, and I will post work from this semester and sketches from my sketchbooks.
Okay blog, do your thing, motivate me to draw more.

 2006
While I was in the Marines, I painted the helicopters.  Every squadron is allowed one “flagship,” one helicopter that is allowed to be painted outside of regulations.  This is the flagship of 00 at HMM-265.  Usually only the kanji for dragon is on the side of the birds, but I designed the dragon to go around it, and it is now used as the squadron patch today.

broken color

These are a few paintings done at AVC.  I love using oil paint, and I really want to find more time getting my brushes dirty again.

 2010
Danny Trejo

Kazuto Nakazawa

So due to late registration to CSUN, I had some free time off.  During that time, I decided to audit an illustration class, and watercoloring glass at AVC.  The two above are from my illustration class.  We had to do a portrait of a famous person, and I just finish watching machete with my grandmother (her movie pick).  Compact charcoal is my favorite medium to work with, closely followed by oil paint.
The next assignment was to draw our favorite artist, and incorporate their work.  Kazuto Nakazawa is my favorite animator, and behind him you could see clips from Linkin Park’s music video “Breaking the Habit,” Animatrix’s “Kid’s Story,” the anime cut scene from Kill Bill Vol. 1, and Samurai Champloo.  Done in watercolor and watercolor pencils.

I finally started a blog.  Might of took me a while, but it's finally here.  I'm going to try to keep up with this.  Hope you guys enjoy.
